Really, I Mean It
Sometimes people drop me a note. Just bought your book, they say. Wow. Few e-mails make you feel better than that one.
I always offer a thank-you reply and I wonder if, across cyberspace, my appreciation comes off. Maybe I sound as though the person ahead of me just held the door open on our way into the gym. I wonder if folks know how much I appreciate their willingness to plop down money for my book.
I’ve been an author for all of three weeks but already I know this much about peddling books: it’s not an easy game — even if your name is well known before you write a book. It’s even more difficult for someone with a name most associate with bad puns, if they recognize it at all.
Whether you’re interested in Bender’s amazing life story or just want to show your support for me, thank you. I mean that. I really do.
