Hear For Yourself

By now you’ve heard about The Speech. Probably seen a clip or two. Or at least the talking heads on the tube. Likely you’ve been told what you should think about The Speech. I am, in fact, resisting the temptation myself. The words stirred me in manners and degrees I did not expect. I have never before been so provoked while listening to a politician talk. These days we already know what we’re supposed to think and feel before we’ve even experienced something for ourselves. Whether you’re for him, for his opponent, for the other party, or you haven’t voted in your life, please, please, close the door. Set aside a half hour. Close e-mail and shut down iTunes. Then listen. Listen to The Speech. Listen to every word.
