Other Stories From The Past
I addition to bookish podcasts, I appreciate finding those that serve useful information in bite-sized portions. For one thing, the radio in the old Corolla barely functions — and that’s when the sky is clear. More important, I need options while at the gym, as I bench my 125 pounds and simultaneously try to avoid the heavy metal buffet served through the ceiling speakers. (I am not sure why I just used another food-related metaphor but I’m pretty sure it’s time for lunch.)
A couple of weeks ago I stumbled upon Matt’s Today In History and so far I like what I’ve heard. A history buff named Matt Dattilo produces five- or eight-minute podcasts that appear to come about once week. Scanning the list of previous installments, the show may prove to be too slanted toward military history for my taste. But the shows I have caught thus far have involved an interesting mix of people and events worth remembering (or, often in my case, worth learning about). And Matt’s love of history is already apparent.
