A New Friend

OK, we’ll go to the shelter, again. We’ll make a pass through the pups section, again. Yes, we will go. Again. Then we’ll work out, have lunch, and resume our puppyless lives.

ready-to-write.jpgMy resistance had been broken down by the generous person in my marriage — at least to the point where I was willing to take the tour. But then I held on to this one with big brown eyes. And he held back, settling into my shoulder like it was what he had been waiting for, not letting go, shaking with anxiety.

I know the feeling, buddy.

As I have gotten to know Barry the last couple of days I have learned we have other things in common in as well. Neither of us is especially comfortable around strange human beings. Both of us like to chew on things. And he knows which one to turn to when he feels an afternoon nap coming on.

This should be an interesting experience. I hope I can do my part to take care of young Bare. Too often I struggle to take care of myself.
