When In Rome

cake.jpgAs you have already noticed, I take advantage of the fact that the Deep South is fodder for ridicule. Of course, that’s an easy dig — like picking on functional adults who spend time reading about Paris Hilton. So I feel the need to mention good things about Dixie (if and when I sees ‘em).

The kind person in my marriage just celebrated her birthday and we put candles into something called a King Cake — a Mardi Gras tradition. They bake these cakes with a little baby inside (don’t worry, no stem cells are harmed) and, well, they look like what comes up after one throws down too many adult beverages on Fat Tuesday.

But yum yum. If you ever have a chance, take a bite. One of the best purple foods I’ve had.
